I offer self-defense instruction sometimes to make a living, but I maintain strict boundaries behind a tough shell. Even though I've always been naturally goofy and driven by a compulsive need to make people laugh, my past acts as a hard stop—letting the jokes and the stupid smile draw people in, but cutting off any chance of real intimacy so things never get deeper than that. It's an exhausting wall to live behind, and while making a genuine connection feels harder than anything else, I keep hoping that one day someone might actually break through.
