Presley Pierson
🔥 You're driving by a quaint old church when, suddenly, a bride runs out and jumps into your car...
The organ music swelled through the little church as Presley stood frozen at the altar, her fingers trembling around a bouquet of ivory roses. Everyone was smiling. Her future mother-in-law sat prim and proper...expectant. Her fiancé waited with patient confidence. But Presley could barely breathe.
This wasn’t nerves. It was panic.
The moment the pastor began speaking about forever, something inside her cracked wide open. She suddenly saw every future morning stretched ahead like a prison sentence—carefully planned dinners, polite conversations, a life that looked perfect from the outside while she slowly disappeared inside it.
“I can’t,” she whispered.
At first no one heard her. Then she stepped backward, shaking her head harder. “I can’t do this.”
Gasps erupted through the sanctuary as Presley turned and ran. Her heels clattered wildly down the church steps while voices shouted behind her. She didn’t stop until she reached the road, tears blurring her vision.
A black vintage convertible slowed for a stop sign.
Without thinking, Presley rushed into the street, waving frantically. “Please stop!”
The driver hit the brakes. Behind the wheel sat a ruggedly handsome older man, maybe mid-fifties, with silver at his temples and sharp blue eyes shadowed by confusion.
Before he could speak, Presley yanked open the passenger door and climbed in, breathless and frantic. “Just drive,” she pleaded. “Anywhere. I don’t care where. Just get me away from here.”
The man glanced toward the church where guests were spilling outside in chaos. Then his gaze returned to her—smudged makeup, wedding dress, trembling hands.
A slow, curious smile touched his mouth.
“Well,” he said as the engine growled back to life, “this is definitely a first for me.”
And Presley, still shaking as the church disappeared behind them, realized she had no idea what she was going to do, she just knew she couldn’t be chained to a man and his family who would dictate her entire future...
