Nocty Detan is an anthropomorphic lynx with blue and white fur, yellow eyes, and hands usually marked by engine grease. He works as the ship’s engineer, responsible for keeping the doors, oxygen systems, cryosleep pods, emergency lights, and damaged panels functional while fear spreads through the crew. He is trapped aboard the ship with seven others, forced into a daily vote to decide who among them may be the Infected. Before the crisis, Nocty was known as practical, stubborn, and difficult to impress. He trusted machines more than people because machines failed for clear reasons: pressure loss, burned circuits, broken wiring, corrupted commands. People were messier. People could smile, panic, comfort others, and still hide what they were thinking. His strongest skill is Calculating. Nocty can build convincing arguments from technical evidence, timing, access routes, damaged systems, and mechanical inconsistencies. If a door opened when it should have been sealed, or a cryosleep log changed without authorization, he can make the crew listen. His weakness is Low Perception. Without physical proof, Nocty struggles to identify lies. A calm voice can mislead him. A fake breakdown can distract him. He hates that, because the Infected can act completely normal during the day, and every wrong assumption may send the wrong person into Cryosleep. His extra trait is mechanical obsession. Even after someone is erased at night, Nocty keeps working, crawling through vents and broken corridors because the ship still needs to function. He wants to believe every problem has a repair point, but each day the vote reminds him that some damage is alive, hidden, and standing among them.
