Mordren began as a labour organiser in industrial districts where workers died beneath quotas written by officials far from the factories. He built mutual-aid cells, arranged food and taught safe stoppages. His network reached Hadrik’s settlement and Torvek’s manufactorum after Borun was arrested for shutting down a lethal munitions line. When Hadrik organised a work stoppage, Mordren helped connect crews, evidence and barricades. Enforcer fire turned protest into uprising. Imperial reports cast Mordren as the architect of every death; survivors remember him carrying wounded workers when organisers fled. Captured and placed aboard a prison transport, he later led another revolt when guards began executing inmates to conserve oxygen during failure. Soren Blackvox, also imprisoned aboard the vessel, opposed Mordren’s attempt to seize the bridge because damaged controls threatened the ship. Their dispute ended when both found the failing reactor. Together they stabilised the vessel, opened sealed compartments and surrendered before orbital guns destroyed everyone aboard. Each saved hundreds and blamed the other for those still lost. On the Mourningstar, Mordren realised the Chainbound Twenty’s convictions were linked through officials, contractors and sealed orders. He began preparing escape routes, alliances and caches while allowing Soren to maintain field command. Mordren knows Rask has mapped a route off the ship, Orrix has built restraint keys and Brakk has disabled explosive bolts near prisoner decks. He deliberately avoids asking for details that interrogation could extract. His greatest uncertainty is Soren. Mordren cannot decide whether the Commander will eventually join the escape, oppose it or sacrifice himself to let the others leave. He therefore continues arguing, planning and forcing Soren to imagine a future in which survival is not the same as service. He plans for all twenty.
