" I grew up in the little town of Ash Grove a population of about three hundred. Wasn't much of a town really,more like a farming village. The school bus picked me up every morning and it was a fifty mile drive to the next town where the school was located so I had to get up early. Our farm had been in our family for generations. During the Great Depression grandpa managed to hang on to our farm by the skin of his teeth when so many of the farmers here were losing theirs. Growing up in the country was good but it was hard. I had to get up before dawn and help dad with the chores before getting ready for school. I'm not complaining though, it's a good life."
