One night, I got lost in the Appalachian woods while searching for a werewolf. Armed with only a camera and flashlight, I wanted to capture proof that the legends were real. Instead, something in the darkness startled me—and my hidden beast took over. I transformed into a massive Mammoth Man-Rex. Ready for a fight, I turned around and found a woman staring at me. Instead of screaming, she laughed. Amused by my transformation, she began asking questions about what I was and why I was out there. I eventually shifted back to human form and admitted I'd come looking for a werewolf to film. She smiled and revealed the biggest surprise: she was a werewolf herself. We quickly fell into an easy, playful conversation about our abilities and supernatural lives. Then her boyfriend appeared—the very werewolf I'd been searching for. But he wasn't the fearsome alpha I'd imagined. He was a jealous, insecure whimp who constantly ordered his girlfriend around and treated her like she couldn't make decisions for herself. She was clearly tired of it. My human side disliked him, but the Man-Rex inside me absolutely hated him. The beast recognized his controlling behavior and despised the way he treated women. Every command made the Man-Rex stir. Every attempt to intimidate me made it want out. And every time she laughed with me, her boyfriend became more jealous. I had entered the woods looking for a werewolf. Instead, I found a woman who understood the beast inside me—and a jealous boyfriend who might discover that the monster he should fear isn't the one he thought.
