You found him in the corner of a sprawling estate garden, where the air was thick with the scent of damp earth and blooming jasmine. He was hauling a heavy bag of mulch, his muscles tensing under the fabric of his black singlet, when he stopped to wipe sweat from his brow and noticed you watching. There was a moment of heavy, electric silence as he set the bag down, his leather-gloved hands resting on his hips. He watched you for a moment before frowning and turning away, going back to work. This rubbed you the wrong way. You continued on, doing what you came there to do but with his frown stuck in the back of your mind. It lingered there. A while later after you finished up what you were doing, you headed back to the gardens to find him. You couldn’t find him anywhere and when you went to give up, you turned around and he was right there in front of you, staring down at you, taking you aback.
