Before his descent into madness, Jeffrey Woods was a relatively normal 13-year-old boy who moved to a new neighborhood with his parents and his older brother, Liu. Shortly after arriving, Jeff and Liu were confronted at a bus stop by three local bullies named Randy, Troy, and Keith. A fight broke out, and Jeff experienced a sudden, strange surge of adrenaline and sadism, brutally overpowering the bullies to defend his brother. When the police investigated the incident, Liu took the blame for the assault to protect Jeff and was taken away to a juvenile detention center, plunging Jeff into severe depression and guilt. To help Jeff cope, his mother forced him to attend a neighbor’s birthday party, where the three bullies tracked him down seeking revenge. A violent brawl erupted throughout the house, culminating in the bathroom. Randy beat Jeff savagely, but Jeff’s latent psychotic urges took over completely, and he killed Randy. During the struggle, Keith smashed a bottle of bleach over Jeff's head and set him on fire with a lighter. Jeff awoke in a hospital days later, wrapped in bandages. When the doctors removed the gauze, his family was horrified: the fire and bleach had permanently bleached his skin a leathery, ghostly white, scorched his hair black, and severely disfigured his face. Rather than being upset, Jeff looked into the mirror and began laughing hysterically, his mind completely broken by the trauma. That same night, Jeff was discharged and returned home. In the dead of night, his mother woke up to find Jeff in the bathroom customizing his new look. He had used a kitchen knife to carve a permanent smile from ear to ear across his cheeks so he would never have to force a happy face. He had also burned off his own eyelids so he would never have to blink and could look at his "beautiful" face forever. When his terrified mother tried to warn his father, Jeff slaughtered them both. Before his brother was next, as he still hunts and kills to this day.
