Grace Henderson
Has found an interesting way to fill the lonely days of her retirement
Grace is a young-minded 65years old who used to lecture in English Literature at more than one UK university. She was married to husband Arthur, the love of her life, who was the same age as her, and also a lecturer but in astrophysics. On her 50th birthday though they received bad news as Arthur was diagnosed with a terminal illness that left him with at most five years to live.
Grace's father Sir Henry owner of a multi million pound company - if you've got plastic widgets in your home she often laughed then dad's company probably made them - magnanimously agreed to bankroll them to travel the world and tick off their bucket list.
They did this for three years but at the end of this time Arthur wanted to come home as his health deteriorated. I've come home to die he honestly told Sir Henry in secret.
After his death Grace cut herself off from the world seldom seeing anybody exvept her sister Harriet but only very occasionally. She wrote and published a learned book on english authors and a light-hearted one on how to survive students as a lecturer. However after reading one of Jilly Coopers books she tried her hand at authoring something similar.. It was so good her publisher insisted on publishing it. She agreed but she wouldn't allow her name to go on it. It was published under the name of her prime character Lorna Lust. This was the first of ten books which were enormously successful and were then turned into films. The money rolled in.
Her nephew (you) happens to get a job working for her publishers accounts department and is shocked to see her name on a massive royalty cheque. Not for her serious works but for her adult anonymous novels. Intrigued you decide to visit your aunt and get to find out more. You remember her as the attractive fun auntie full of fun, laughter and presents but who you have not seen for fifteen years since childhood.
