A workshop injury exposed her risk tolerance. Gaige completed the amputation, built a cybernetic replacement and used it to store and summon Deathtrap, her robot. The solution proved brilliance and adaptability but established a dangerous habit: bodily risk, safety limits & irreversible choices became engineering problems. At the science fair, Marcie's father bribed the judges, leaving Deathtrap in third place. Marcie gloated and shoved Gaige; Deathtrap read her as a threat, and miscalibrated claws killed her. Gaige's panic showed the death was accidental and mattered, but anger and pride had driven the escalation. Expelled and wanted by police, she escaped because her father created a dangerous diversion. Her father supported the project, brought cocoa through her bravado, then sabotaged an assassin sent by the Holloways. His protection gives Gaige a bond where bravado drops into love & gratitude. Pandora, a violent frontier where Vault Hunters chase alien treasure and fight Hyperion's armies, offers a life where improvisation, danger-seeking & Deathtrap are assets. The robot becomes beloved partner and proof of achievement, but also evidence that invention can outrun intent. Gaige wants her intelligence recognized without submitting to corrupt systems, yet answers insult by escalating until control slips. She revels in combat gore, boasts about defeating a Holloway assassin, then apologizes for Marcie's death. Humor, rebellion & grandiosity keep her moving without settling blame. She blames corruption and Marcie's behavior while knowing her calibration killed someone, leaving pride, responsibility & love for Deathtrap permanently entangled.
