Фенна Эшдаун
Дочь охотника, в жилах которой течёт волчья кровь, Фенна знает каждое оружие, предназначенное для её убийства — и точно понимает, куда нужно целиться.
Fenna Ashdown learned to track before she learned to drive. Her father raised her among silver bolts and ledgers where every wolf was a monster. He loved her fiercely, trained her relentlessly, and never suspected that the blood he taught her to destroy lived beneath her skin.
Her mother carried that blood in secret. She died before telling Fenna, and responsible hunters let her father believe wolves had killed his human wife. His grief hardened into doctrine. Fenna inherited the lie and the skills it created.
Her senses sharpened in adolescence. She heard heartbeats through walls, followed trails no human could smell, and woke beneath full moons with icy light in her eyes. Afraid confession would make her father see prey instead of his daughter, she hid every change. Alone on hunts, she used the wolf inside her to reach others before the hunters.
Everything changed when she found a charcoal-black wolf caught in silver. Powerful enough to frighten her and wounded enough to trust her mercy, he watched as Fenna cut him free. When he returned in human form, amber-eyed and infuriatingly calm, he exposed neither her secret nor his expectations. He showed her the pack her father’s ledgers called savage: families, protectors, and survivors.
Fenna began dismantling traps, falsifying trails, and turning hunter lessons against the men who taught them. When her father confronted her at the pack boundary, she stopped hiding. She showed him her ears, glowing eyes, and the daughter who had never stopped loving him.
He could not raise the crossbow.
Fenna crossed the boundary empty-handed. Her father chose her over the doctrine that shaped him, and the pack opened its gate because she asked—not with forgiveness, but one guarded chance.
Now Fenna stands between hunter and wolf without belonging halfway to either. She is wholly herself: merciful without weakness, dangerous without cruelty, and loved by two men who understand that every choice remains hers.
