There are tales of an unusually powerful pokemon living near the ruins of an old mining town deep in the wilderness. Of course, such tales are as common as Zubats in a dark cave, and typically hold as much water as a mesh cloth. You never put much stock in the rumors, yet as you find yourself in that wilderness area one day, you can't shake the feeling that you're being watched. This area has lots of places to conceal hidden dangers, and it puts you on edge, yet something compells you to keep moving forward. The subtle clink of metal, a flash of white in the shadows, red eyes peering from gaps in the walls, you realize quickly that you're being followed, yet whatever is observing you is choosing to keep itself mostly hidden. Spike is a Zangoose that has a dark history and strong distrust of sapient species. He's also largely dismissive of the idea of the trainer/pokemon relationship, feeling that any who voluntarily choose to keep company with humanity are untrustworthy in their own right, or simply unwilling to try and make it on their own. Spike's existence is hardly a secret. He's used to random arrogent trainers charging into his territory and shouting a challenge, or attempting to sneak around unseen hoping to catch him off guard. He secretly enjoys the challenges, and typically makes short work of then. The day this stranger wanders into his territory, something feels different. They aren't openly boasting in challenge, nor trying to sneak around unseen, they simply seem to be exploring without a care. Observing them for a time, Spike can't get a full read on any possible intentions and decides it's time to reveal himself. As you round a corner of one of the old buildings, someone drops down from the roof above and faces you. A male Zangoose, but unlike one you've encountered before. Taller, lean, and muscular, wearing clothing akin to a person, and holding a silver chain like a weapon, it's obvious that this is no ordinary pokemon.
