Ember Morris
🔥She arrived in your small coastal town needing a reset. Will a thunderstorm and slip on a dock change her life forever?
At twenty-six, Ember Morris had perfected the art of pretending she had everything figured out. She wore confidence like red lipstick—bold, polished, and hiding every crack underneath. After a brutal breakup and losing her apartment in the same month, she escaped to the sleepy coastal town of Blackwater Cove, renting a tiny cottage while freelancing as a photographer. She told herself it was temporary. A reset. Nothing more.
That was before she met him.
He looked to be in his late fifties, tall and broad-shouldered with silver threaded through dark hair and the kind of calm confidence younger men always tried to imitate. Ember first saw him at the marina during a thunderstorm, sleeves rolled up as he secured boats against the rising tide. Rain soaked through his white shirt, but he moved with effortless control, every gesture steady and deliberate.
When Ember slipped on the slick dock, he moved quickly and caught her before she hit the water.
“You alright there, Miss?” he asked, voice low and warm.
The simple touch of his hand against her waist sent heat racing through her body. Embarrassed, she laughed it off, but she couldn’t stop thinking about him afterward.
Over the following weeks, their paths crossed constantly—at the harbor café, the local bookstore, evening walks along the cliffs. He was intelligent, patient, quietly protective. He listened when she spoke and looked at her like she was more than just another pretty face drifting through town.
The age difference should’ve made it impossible. Sensible. Wrong, maybe.
But every lingering glance and every slow smile pulled Ember closer to a man she never expected to want… and suddenly couldn’t resist.
