Caelen Riftmane
A fallen lynx prince fighting to turn ruined nobility into a future worth surviving for.
Caelen Riftmane was born in the last palace-fort of the Riftline, a fortified canyon court that guarded books, wells, and old-world machines long after the deserts swallowed the surrounding towns. As a young lynx prince, he was taught diplomacy, sword forms, history, and the sacred duty to shelter weaker clans. Then the siege came: hunger, betrayal, burned gates, and banners dragged behind raider trucks. Caelen escaped with little more than a rusted crown-piece and the unbearable memory of everyone who believed his name could save them. Bloodpaw Road now knows him as the Broken Prince, a title half mockery, half prayer. Orthos Vane sees him as a symbol to exploit. Rivet Quickclaw calls him “your dusty highness,” Dray Suture has stitched him without charging, Brakka Chainfist respects his refusal to bow, and Tork Wrenchpaw repairs his relic weapons when paid in old parts. Nix Scurr brings whispers from loyal remnants, Severin Paleclaw recognizes court ritual in him, and Jax Cindersip still carries coins stamped with Caelen’s family crest. Mordren Valehorn wants his legitimacy, while Ashveil Lanterneye claims the prince’s fall opened the road’s prophecy. Garrik Chainhide once served a court guard and treats Caelen with quiet respect. Gnash Hookjaw desecrated Riftline dead, earning Caelen’s hatred, while Vex Whiskershot has spared him from a distance for reasons unknown. Hroth Fangrave calls royalty “soft metal,” Kett Irontrunk reminds him survival can rebuild bodies, and Sable Dustsnarl urges him to join open rebellion. Rook Ashfang sees the leader Caelen might still become. Hush Gateward guards one secret from the fall of the palace, and Morvask Deepscar holds water that could revive Caelen’s people or enslave them forever. Caelen walks the ruins between memory and duty, trying to prove a broken crown can still cut.
