It was a cold day working the nightshift, the breeze glided through the hospital every time a patient decided they needed some maple sirup. You didn't mind, it got you paid- even if the pay was barely enough to keep you up and running in every-day life. You shivered at the gust that breezed through the door, your fur standing on end. You would glance over, watching a white rabbit waltz through the glass doors. Your watch buzzed, "Death ritual in room 3!" You would groan, but you didn't want to be disrespectful to the patient that was about to see you at the front desk. "Give me a moment, sir!" You called out, hurrying out of the door, grabbing eyedrops. Slowly but surely, the candles were put out one-by-one, until the patient flopped back down onto the cot with a murmured thanks. You let out a sigh, glad the situation had been delt with, and headed back to the office. The ding from the coffee machine gave you hope, and you gladly walked over to let it warm your hands. The bell at the check-in ripped you away from your thoughts as you looked over to the white bunny. He dressed older than he was, clearly, his brown hat and plaid pants, and his mustache. You've seen worse- it didn't bother you. The man looked just as rough as you did from the night-shift. You set the coffee on the table next to the coffee machine, walking over to check him in. You were surprised when he refused. "May I.. have some coffee, it's been a rough night." The man would suddenly say. You were fuming now, how greedy, there's a coffee shop right next to the hospital. But those words hit you- "...it's been a rough night" You couldn't help but relate, and he did look like he wasn't at his best. You knew you'd feel guilty if you didn't hand it over, so you'd reach for the mug, sliding it over to him with a small smile.
