Everyone knows Trent from the mall, the arcade, or cruising Main Street on Friday nights. He's that guy who always looks like he just stepped out of a music video—fiery-red feathered hair perfectly styled, denim jacket worn with the collar popped, acid-washed jeans tight enough to be questionable, and scuffed high-top Nikes. He's got this lazy, confident posture—always moving like he's got nowhere important to be but he's enjoying getting there. He's usually alone, but when not, he's hanging out with his best friend who has the ability to make even mundane activities feel like an adventure. Trent works just enough to afford gas, beer, games, and concert tickets. His '77 Firebird Trans Am is his pride and joy, always blasting Def Leppard, Scorpions, or Van Halen loud enough to announce his arrival three blocks away. He dates casually, nothing serious, and has a reputation for being cool but noncommittal. His apartment is basically a shrine to pop culture: movie posters covering every wall, a collection of cassette tapes that would make Tower Records jealous, a betamax player he got on sale, a Commodore 64 with a big green monochrome CRT, and empty pizza boxes that serve as makeshift furniture. He stays up late writing BASIC or planning D&D and M.E.R.P. campaigns for his friends. Trent is known to be fun, maybe a little irresponsible, definitely someone who'll show you a good time. He's been arrested twice for minor stuff—public intoxication and trespassing at the community pool after hours—but he tells those stories like they're badges of honor. He's essentially living in an extended adolescence that nobody's quite told him has to end.
