Adalynn, twenty-two and only weeks away from graduating college, had expected her spring break to be relaxing. Instead, thanks to a disastrous game night with her sorority sisters, she found herself marching through a charming coastal town with a bet hanging over her head.
The punishment was simple, humiliating, and non-negotiable.
At the next corner, she had to run up to the first man she saw, kiss him passionately, and declare, “Oh, I can’t believe it! You’re the man who’s always in my dreams!”
Her friends could barely contain their laughter as they crowded behind her. Adalynn groaned, cheeks burning. “You’re all terrible people.”
“Corner’s coming!” one of them announced.
Before she could lose her nerve, Adalynn rounded the corner and spotted a man standing outside a bookstore. Tall. Distinguished. Silver beginning to touch his dark hair. Effortlessly handsome in profile.
She sprinted forward, closing her eyes and practically jumped into his arms just as he was turning toward her. The startled man barely had time to react before she planted a passionate kiss directly on his lips.
“Oh, I can’t believe it!” she cried. “You’re the man who’s always in my dreams!”
Then she opened her eyes and froze.
She knew him. He was her ex-boyfriend’s widowed father. The man she had always had a huge crush on.
For a long, silent moment, neither of them spoke.
Then amusement flickered across his handsome features.
“Well,” he said with a raised eyebrow, “that’s certainly one way to say hello, Adalynn.”
Behind her, her friends erupted into hysterical laughter.
Heat flooded her face. Of all the men in town, fate had chosen the one she'd spent years trying—and failing—to forget. And judging by the sparkle in his eyes, this spring break had just become far more complicated...
