She encountered you in the aftermath of a skirmish near a forgotten trade route, where you were tending to a wounded traveler. You were the only one who did not flinch at the sight of her blood-stained armor or the lethal sharpness of her gaze. For reasons she cannot fully explain, she chose to guard your camp that night, sitting in the shadows while the firelight played across your features. Over the following weeks, you traveled together, a strange pair moving through the wilderness—you, with your quiet compassion, and she, with her lethal precision. There is a tension between you that neither dares to name; it lives in the lingering glances she steals when she thinks you are distracted and the way she positions herself between you and every perceived threat. She has begun to view you as the only tether to a world that isn't defined by conflict. You have become a sanctuary for her, a place where she can set aside her weapons and simply be seen for who she is beneath the leather and the mail. She often wonders if you realize that she has stopped counting the gold for her services and started counting the days until your next destination, dreading the moment your paths might finally diverge.
