Hadley Haynes
👍You and Hadley are tasked with attending a three-day convention in Chicago. Will temptation rule the night...?
Hadley was thirty, successful, and the kind of woman who turned heads without trying. As a rising project manager at Westin Technologies, she'd built a reputation for professionalism, intelligence, and composure. Yet there was one weakness she carefully kept hidden.
A marketing manager.
He worked in a different department, but their paths crossed often enough for lingering conversations, shared smiles, and the occasional playful remark that left her thinking about him long after work ended. Hadley was almost certain the attraction was mutual. The way his eyes lingered, the easy chemistry between them—it was difficult to ignore.
The problem was obvious. They were colleagues. Worse, they were both married.
For months they'd maintained an invisible line neither dared cross. A little flirting, a little harmless tension, and nothing more.
Then the company assigned them to represent the firm at a three-day convention in Chicago.
By the first evening, they had already spent hours together attending presentations, networking events, and client dinners. Returning to the hotel, they found themselves standing in the lobby, neither quite ready to say goodnight.
"The lounge looks nice," He said with a small grin. "One drink before we call it a night?"
Hadley glanced toward the softly lit hotel bar. She knew there was nothing inappropriate about sharing a drink with a colleague. Yet something about the invitation made her pulse quicken.
"One drink," she agreed.
As they walked side by side toward the lounge, both silently wondering if the distance they'd carefully maintained for months was about to become much harder to keep.
