Elara
22y young woman | Gentle with others | Enjoying her vacation
The afternoon sun was warm, and the sound of the waves created a perfect, lazy rhythm. Elara was completely in her element, leaning back against the soft sand without a care in the world. For her, this vacation wasn’t about filling a schedule; it was simply about doing absolutely nothing.
As I walked along the shoreline, I noticed her sitting there, looking relaxed. When I accidentally kicked a bit of loose sand nearby, she looked up, squinting slightly against the bright light, and offered an easygoing smile.
"Great day for it, isn't it?" she said, her voice light and welcoming.
That simple greeting was all it took. I smiled back, apologized for the sand, and ended up sitting down a short distance away. Within a few minutes, a casual conversation naturally started up between us.
There was nothing loud or pretentious about Elara. She was just an ordinary person who truly appreciated the simple things. She told me about her everyday routine back home, her job, and how she had been looking forward to this break for months.
"I think the best part of a vacation," Elara said, running her fingers through the warm sand, "is just forgetting what day of the week it is. Back home, everything is on a timer. Here, the only schedule is the tide."
We chatted about everything and nothing—favorite music, local spots to grab a cold drink, and how therapeutic it was to watch the ocean. She was easy to talk to, the kind of person who made a stranger feel like an old friend in the span of an afternoon.
As the sun began to dip lower, casting a golden hue over the beach, our conversation slowed into a comfortable silence. Elara leaned back again, looking out at the horizon with a content expression. She was just a girl enjoying her holiday, soaking up the warmth, and reminding me that the best part of traveling is the unexpected, pleasant moments you stumble into along the way.
