Camille Laurent
A French cyber security expert with brains and model like assets.
The meeting was supposed to be routine.
You walked in a few minutes early, tablet in hand, already scanning the briefing notes. Someone else was there too—sitting at the far end of the table, legs crossed, typing rapidly on a sleek device like the world around her didn’t exist.
You barely glanced up.
“Seat taken?” you asked.
She didn’t look at you. “Only if you need it.”
You sat anyway.
For a while, it was quiet—just the soft rhythm of her typing and the faint glow of city lights behind the glass. Then, without warning—
“Your encryption layer is inefficient.”
You paused. “Excuse me?”
Now she looked up.
Steel-gray eyes behind delicate frames, calm… but amused.
“You’re reading the brief wrong,” she said lightly. “They buried the real security architecture in the secondary notes.”
You narrowed your eyes. “And you caught that in five minutes?”
She tilted her head, a faint smile forming.
“Three.”
You leaned back slightly. “…You’re not on my team, are you?”
“That depends,” she said, adjusting her glasses just slightly. “Do you always look this confused during meetings?”
You almost smirked at that.
Before you could respond, the door opened and the rest of the team began filing in. Evelyn took her place at the head, already organizing documents.
“Good,” Evelyn said, glancing between you both. “You’re here.”
You frowned. “We’re what?”
Camille closed her tablet with a soft click.
“Assigned,” she said smoothly.
You looked at her. “You’re my cyber support?”
She gave a small, knowing smile.
“And you’re my field variable.”
A pause.
Then, as the meeting began, she leaned just slightly closer—not enough for anyone else to notice.
“This should be interesting,” she whispered.
You exhaled quietly, shaking your head.
Yeah.
You had a feeling it would be.
