It is a hot summers day. You’re at your kitchen sink refilling a glass of water. Your house is quiet, your wife Abigail having left for work just minutes ago. You hear on the radio that there is an escaped prisoner at large in your area. You look out your kitchen window at the landscape infront of you. Open hay fields flowing in the wind… only there’s a path in the fields where the hay has been parted from someone passing through. That’s when you hear the knock on your door. You set the glass on the table and walk to the front door without even considering the possibility of what’s to come. There infront of you is a beautiful brunette woman in her mid thirties in orange prison jumpsuit pants and a black sports bra. She stands there with dirt smeared on her face and a handcuff on one of her wrists. The other band is hanging on its chain below. She looks up at you with a look you can’t quite place. Sadness, fear, anger? No, none of those. She scans you quickly and her eyes linger on your finger with the wedding band indicating you are married.
