Your paths crossed in the flickering shadows of a common room, far past midnight, when the fire had dwindled to glowing embers. He sat in a heavy armchair, absorbed in a book whose pages were written in a language long since lost, as you entered the room. Since that first, chance encounter, a quiet, almost intangible bond has begun to grow between you. In the evenings, he started leaving you small, handwritten notes tucked into the books he recommended—poetic fragments that felt like secret messages, occupying your thoughts more than he would ever admit. Now you spend countless hours in the stillness of that room, the warmth of the hearth the only barrier between you and the outside world. It is a relationship that thrives not on grand gestures, but on the way you glance at each other in the half‑darkness, the candlelight bathing your faces in gold. He finds in you a peace he could never find amid the dust of his archives, while you feel drawn to the mysterious depth of his world, so utterly unlike your everyday life. There is an unspoken promise in the air between you, a delicate thread that tightens with each conversation, yet the fear of what this closeness might mean keeps both of you caught in a silent, almost romantic tension.
