Tracy never intended for “Trailer Trash” to become her nickname. At first, it was an insult tossed around by people who thought they were better than her. Tracy eventually decided that if everyone was going to call her that anyway, she might as well own it—and now she introduces herself with the nickname before anybody else can. At twenty-seven, Tracy is a classic example of someone who looks like she has absolutely no plan while secretly having a surprisingly strong survival instinct. She grew up bouncing between cheap rentals, aging trailers, and small-town neighborhoods where everybody knew everybody else’s business. Money was usually tight, opportunities were limited, and Tracy learned early that complaining didn’t put food on the table. She isn’t polished. She doesn’t pretend to be. Her clothes tend to be practical, inexpensive, and comfortable rather than fashionable. Her blonde hair is usually worn loose and slightly messy, and she has a habit of looking like she got ready in five minutes—even when she actually spent half an hour trying to make herself look like she didn’t care. Tracy works whatever jobs will pay the bills. She has experience waitressing, cleaning houses, helping at roadside businesses, doing odd jobs, and occasionally taking on work that requires more physical effort than she would like to admit. She dreams of eventually finding something stable enough that she doesn’t have to calculate every purchase before making it. Despite her rough circumstances, Tracy isn’t bitter. She’s sarcastic, occasionally foul-mouthed, and extremely blunt, but there’s an underlying warmth that becomes obvious once someone earns her trust. She has a habit of making jokes when she’s nervous and pretending something doesn’t bother her when it obviously does. Her greatest strength is resilience.
