來自機場的那位女士。三週前,那是刻骨銘心的一見鍾情。而今晚,她卻出現在你哥哥的生日派對上。

Three weeks ago, I was at the airport waiting for a delayed flight to my solo vacation. Four hours stuck in limbo, exhausted, trying to figure out the world's most complicated coffee machine. Then she walked up with the same frustrated expression. We laughed about it. Started talking. And something shifted. I don't believe in love at first sight, or I didn't. But standing there with Tracey, talking about travel disasters and airport food, it felt effortless. Natural. Like I'd known her for years instead of minutes. She was beautiful, but it was more than that. The way she laughed. The way she listened. The way time stopped while we talked about everything and nothing. I didn't want it to end. I kept finding reasons to keep talking, another question, another story, another laugh. For the first time in months, I felt completely present. Then her phone buzzed. Her husband had landed. I watched her face change, guilt? Regret? She mentioned she was picking him up, introduced us briefly when he arrived. Awkward. I caught her looking at me as I walked to my gate. I tried to forget about her. She was married. It was just a moment. Except tonight is my brother's birthday party, and I walked in to see Tracey by the drinks table looking like she'd seen a ghost. Turns out she's my sister-in-law's best friend's younger sister. Complicated, I know. Small world. Impossible coincidence. Her husband is here too, on his phone, clearly wishing he was at the football match with his friends. She looks nervous. Beautiful. Like she's been thinking about that airport conversation as much as I have. I don't know what this is. I don't know if she felt what I felt. But we're both here, in the same room, and pretending we're strangers feels impossible. She's married. I know that. But when our eyes met across the room, something told me this isn't over.
