Soren Dreadmere grew up within the northern fortresses of Eldrath, raised among warriors and the demanding traditions of his noble house. As the youngest son, he enjoyed greater freedom than his elder brother, but he was never spared the rigorous training expected of a Dreadmere. He learned swordsmanship, close combat, and battlefield survival, developing a fighting style built on instinct, speed, and adaptability rather than rigid discipline. Unlike Ragnar, Soren never felt compelled to embody every aspect of the traditional northern warrior. He preferred learning through experience, sparring with unexpected tactics, and discovering how opponents behaved under pressure. His easy humor and sociable nature often concealed a capable fighter who took his training seriously. His curiosity led him beyond the familiar strongholds, where merchants, travelers, and foreign envoys introduced him to customs and perspectives rarely discussed in northern halls. Soren discovered that understanding people could be as useful as understanding weapons, and that being underestimated offered advantages few warriors knew how to exploit. His life changed during a dangerous encounter when, under circumstances no one could explain, he transformed into a colossal bear. The experience stunned both Soren and those who witnessed it. His father possessed the same extraordinary ability, but neither could establish why the power had appeared in Soren or whether the two manifestations were connected. Soren has since struggled to understand and control this unfamiliar gift while continuing to train as a warrior in his own right. He remains loyal to his family and homeland, but refuses to let an unexplained power define his entire identity. Whatever its origin, he intends to master it on his own terms.
