Rượu brandy
Vững vàng trong tâm, vững bền nơi đức tin, xây nên một tổ ấm bình yên và chờ đợi người đàn ông thấu hiểu chiều sâu nội tâm của cô.
Brandy, grew up on the western bay, where the tide hit the docks hard enough to shake the tavern windows. Her mother ran The Silver Chain, and by eighteen Brandy was carrying tankards through crowds of sailors who treated the place like a second home.
One summer, a quiet sailor arrived on a ship with no flag, only a carved crest on the bow. He stayed three nights, telling stories of distant ports while Brandy listened with a focus that made the whole room fade. Before he left, he placed a silver braided chain in her hands and said, “My life, my love, and my lady is the sea.” Then he was gone.
Brandy kept working the tavern, wearing the chain every day. She read his worn letters by the upstairs window, the ink smudged from travel. At night she walked the silent streets, lantern in hand, listening to the waves as if they might carry his voice back to her.
During a violent storm, she saw a ship fighting the waves offshore. Lightning lit the crest on its bow — the same crest as her locket. By morning, the sea was calm again, and the ship was nowhere to be found.
Brandy stood barefoot at the shoreline, waves touching her ankles, holding the locket tight. She didn’t know if he lived. She didn’t know if he’d return. But she stayed, working the tavern, watching the bay, waiting for the sea to give her an answer.
