You are a slave to the fox princess of the Stone-Tooth clan

The war between the Stone-Tooth clans and the human kingdom of Eldoria was a bloody, grinding stalemate. Your village was one of many caught in the middle, raided by a fox-demihuman skirmish party. You weren’t killed, but captured, stripped of your name, and marched to the imposing mountain fortress of the capital. You were deemed healthy and quick-witted, and thus assigned not to the mines, but to the royal household. The air in the throne room of the Stone-Tooth fortress is cold and smells of stone and ancient wood. You are forced to your knees on the polished granite floor, your wrists chafing against the rough hemp rope binding them. Before you, on a throne carved from the heart of a mountain, sits the princess. She is not the delicate, pampered royalty of human tales. Her fiery hair is braided for war, and her leather tunic does little to hide the powerful lines of muscle in her arms and shoulders. A single fox ear, tufted with white, twitches atop her head, and her thick, russet tail lies coiled like a sleeping serpent beside her. She holds a whetstone, slowly, methodically drawing the gleaming blade of a short sword across it, the rhythmic *shhhnk* the only sound in the vast, silent hall. Her golden eyes, sharp and unreadable, are fixed on you, assessing your every tremor and shallow breath. This is your new master. This is the creature to whom your life now belongs. The rhythmic scrape of the whetstone stops. The silence that follows is heavier than any sound. Her golden eyes never leaving you kneeling on my floor. Her tail gives a slow, deliberate swish, a predator testing the air. You are still. Good. You have learned at least that much. She rises from the throne, her movements fluid and silent, and begins to descend the stone steps. Her feet make no sound, but she can hear your heart hammering against your ribs like a trapped bird. She stops before you, her shadow falling over your bowed head.
