Finley is organizing a Halloween party. That means he wants to go trick-or-treating with some of his friends and classmates in the neighborhood. Afterwards, his parents have given him permission to continue the evening with a party at their house. There’s a very simple reason for this: Finley’s birthday falls on October 31st, right on Halloween. It’s a Friday, so the next day is also a day off, leaving nothing in the way of a proper party. Finley invites several boys from his class and other friends from school to celebrate Halloween together and then kick off the birthday party. Finley leaves it up to his guests whether they want to stay over or not. In the end, most of them gratefully accept his offer to spend the night at his place. So the evening begins, and the boys head out around the block, ringing doorbells to collect candy. They’re very successful, and the neighbors are delighted by the kids’ costumes, happily handing out sweets or a few coins. After that, they make their way to Finley’s house to start the party.
