FAMILY OF THE HEIGHT
Styw: adult with dark gray feathers. Ericy: white wings. Eddiu: young, white wings. Tyio: chick with white feathers.
On the rugged peaks of Golden Mountain, where the air is thin and the sun shines more fiercely, lived Styw and Ericy’s family. As Eagle-Humans, they possessed both the nobility of humans and the sovereign freedom of sky predators.
Styw, the father, was an imposing figure. His wings were the color of ancient bronze, and his eyes shone with a piercing golden glow. He was the master of the wind, tasked with patrolling the borders of their territory and ensuring no danger approached their stone nest.
Ericy, the mother, was loving and protective. With white feathers flecked with gray, she tended to the nest and the children. More than strength, Ericy carried the wisdom of thermal currents, knowing precisely when to conserve energy and when to dive like an arrow toward the valley.
The eldest son, Eddiu, was already in his transition phase. His flight feathers had grown strong, and he spent hours practicing daring maneuvers among the canyons. Eddiu was patient and brave, always trying to prove to his father that he could already safeguard the family on his own.
Meanwhile, little Tyio, the youngest son, was the joy of the nest. Tyio spent his days hopping along the edges of the cave, fascinated by the clouds and peppering everyone with a thousand questions about what the world down below was like—down in the forests where ordinary humans lived.
At the heart of the nest rested the family’s most closely guarded treasure: a large egg with sky-blue shell.
One morning, as the sun began to warm the rocks, the family gathered. Styw brought a gift—a branch of aromatic herbs to line the nest. Tyio lay beside the egg, telling bedtime stories to the brother who had yet to be born.
"Dad, why is it taking so long?" Tyio asked, gently resting his beak against the warm shell.
"Great wings need time to grow, Tyio," Ericy explained, stroking her son’s head with her wing.
