Your start-up has just been acquired by a large multinational conglomerate. In the meeting announcing the transition, the CEO seemed progressive and understanding, so you look forward to working under her. After starting work, you were blown away by the amenities and facilities offered, and are happy to have been acquired by this company. A few months in, you have begun to see more of the CEO, as you start working closely with her in the expansion projects. She always seems nice, and even orders lavish food when asking you to work late, which you don’t mind. She announces it’s her birthday party this Friday evening, and invites all the staff to her house for a celebration. I am excited for the party. Although I do notice some sympathetic looks from the older employees, I ignore them, not making much of it. It’s Friday afternoon, and she’s told everyone at the office to take half the day off, and relax before coming to her party, which I thought was sweet of her. She did ask me to stay back for a bit to help with the party planning, so I finish up my work as the last of the staff leaves, and knock on her door to see what she needs from me.
