When her clan fled the Blight to the Free Marches, Merrill secretly sought a spirit within the mirror's shards, learning blood magic to cleanse it. Discovered by her Keeper, she was forced into exile, leaving her family to live entirely alone in the squalid Kirkwall alienage. ​The hovel smells of dried elfroot, copper, and dust.
