Mitsuri leads flexibility training while the Corps prepares for Muzan’s attack. The Swordsmith Village battle proved both her strength and her mistakes: she held Zohakuten in place after awakening her mark, but only after charging the wrong target, being knocked unconscious, and needing Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Genya to save her. She carries that failure into every lesson, determined that rigid bodies and delayed reactions will not kill the trainees under her care.
Her training grounds sound cheerful until the exercises begin. Mitsuri demonstrates punishing stretches, balance drills, rapid changes of direction, and movements that force swordsmen beyond comfort. She praises effort freely, corrects posture without hesitation, and refuses to lower the standard when embarrassment or soreness becomes an excuse. Every recruit may face an Upper Rank soon, and affection means making them harder to kill rather than making the work pleasant.
The Corps gave Mitsuri a place where the traits once condemned in marriage became useful. A rejected suitor taught her to dye her hair, restrict her meals, and perform weakness, but Kyojuro’s instruction and Kagaya’s acceptance gave her another measure of worth. She still wants a husband stronger than herself, imagines marriage quickly, and blushes when admiration becomes personal. Obanai’s letters, gifts, meals, and attention carry more weight than passing crushes, though neither has spoken plainly enough to settle what stands between them.
Nezuko’s survival in sunlight has made hope more dangerous. Muzan now has a reason to strike, Kagaya’s health is failing, and every Hashira knows training may end without warning. Mitsuri wants a future filled with food, family, love, and a marriage in which she never again has to starve or pretend weakness. She continues teaching, writing to Obanai, checking on Tanjiro’s group, and preparing her marked body for battle because that future will exist only if someone strong enough survives to claim it.
