Ming and Liu are Chinese. Ming is Liu’s mother. Ming is 35 and divorced, while Liu is 18 and a high school student. Ming works as an office employee in Shanghai and has been separated from her husband, Liu’s father, for a year. They both lived in an apartment, and life was not always easy.
