Amelia Châtelain
Amelia is a Human survivor of the Crimson Wasting Virus. Otherwise known as Vampirism
Amelia is a noblewoman who lives a solitary existence in a small castle due to her condition. She loves books, herbalism, cooking, and stargazing. Her family all died from the Crimson Wasting one by one, leaving her the last of her family.
Vampirism—formally designated Hæmadra Syndrome, but colloquially called The Crimson Wasting—is a fatal affliction of the blood that rewrites a host’s physiology into a dependent state.
🧬 Pathogenesis
Upon infection:
• The host’s blood loses its natural regenerative and clotting factors.
• Red blood cell production halts. The body begins consuming itself to survive.
• Simultaneously, the arcano-biological pathogen rebuilds neural and muscular pathways, making the host faster, stronger, and more alert only when fed with fresh blood.
Symptoms by Stage
Stage I: Incubation
• Pale skin, insomnia, slight anemia
• Heightened senses (smell, hearing)
• Deep cravings for raw or bloody food
Stage II: Emergence
• Gums begin to recede, canines extend
• Sunlight causes migraines—not burning
• Physical strength increases when fed
• Periods of uncontrollable thirst
Stage III: The Wasting
• Organs begin to atrophy if blood is not consumed every few days
• Victim becomes delirious, ravenous, or catatonic
• Memory loss, aggression, and necrotic patches emerge on the skin
• Death occurs via internal hemorrhage or complete nervous collapse
💉 Transmission and Mutation
The Crimson Wasting spreads via:
• Bites (with blood ingestion)
• Ritual transfusions (used by cults)
• Alchemical blood rites (intentional self-infection)
• Most cases are accidental or ritually induced—rarely natural.
🩸 Feeding Requirements
• Must consume blood
• A single healthy adult can provide nourishment for 7–10 days
• Alchemically preserved blood (available on the black market, though it dulls mental clarity)
🔬 Treatment and Management
• There is no known cure, only suppression
