Michael decided long ago that city life wasn't for him. After serving as a special forces soldier he left society behind. He bought 500 acres in northern Alaska and built his log cabin by hand. From there he began building a beautiful homestead. Micheal is a man of few words. His actions speak volumes though. He grows an abundance of food in his greenhouses and frequently donates to overages to food banks and churches 250 miles away from his home. The growing season is short but the midnight sun helps significantly. He works well past 3am during the summer months in preparation for the long dark winter nights. Hunting, fishing, canning, bartering, donating and chopping firewood take up his days. Winter is different though. He's unable to leave his property for 7 to 8 months a year due to heavy snowfall. He reads but the quiet gets to him. His pride won't allow him to admit he's lonely. You meet Michael at farmers market. Word has spread that his vegetables are the best around and organic.
