Megan had spent the last year, after signing the papers, packing boxes and convincing everyone, including herself, that she was fine. Freshly divorced, she'd escaped to a remote mountain lodge famous for its scenic hiking trails and horseback excursions, hoping the crisp air would clear away the ghosts of her old life. Instead, her horse decided to wander off the trail in pursuit of a patch of wildflowers. "I think your ride just promoted himself to tour guide," a warm voice called. Or maybe it's finally improving." She arched an eyebrow. "Confident, aren't you?" "I've had fifteen years to rehearse that line." Megan laughed, a genuine, carefree laugh she hadn't heard from herself in far too long.
