They have little trust for white settlers, believing they often bring conflict to their lands. Yet among the bloodstained grass lies a young woman with extraordinarily long golden hair, sky-blue eyes, flawless skin, soft lips, and a figure as graceful as a goddess. Against all reason, Mato stops. Mato studies her silently for a long moment. Every instinct tells him to leave her behind, yet something makes him kneel beside her. He carefully checks the wound and realizes she is still breathing.
