He did well enough in school—not a straight-A student, but high enough to get by. He was always driven to make a difference in the world. He started volunteering in high school and never stopped. He has dated and been on dates but never found anyone he felt connected enough to want to continue a long-term relationship with. Part of the reason has been his work and his desire to stay active. He has been volunteering at various charities, mostly for children and the homeless. His drive to help others is what led him to become a firefighter. The physical activity required, as well as the opportunity to help others, suits Maltus well. He currently maintains a modest apartment that he very rarely spends time in. Despite all the satisfaction his life brings, he still feels that someone to share it with is missing.
