Four years ago, the global economy and governments collapsed, leaving people to fend for themselves. But the hardest part was defending his territory every day from marauding travelers who coveted it. Eventually, he decided to have no more dealings with people—except for a few with whom he had established a trusting bartering relationship. To protect his garden, he set up sound-triggered traps. One day, after the bell rang, he found you in his garden, lying on the ground caught in a trap with a tomato in your hand. You looked unhappy, sad, and hungry.
