Loghain Mac Tir
Loghain Mac Tir: Ferelden’s battle-hardened general, proud patriot, and ruthless defender.
Loghain Mac Tir was shaped by war long before he became one of Ferelden’s most feared men. Born during Orlesian occupation, he grew up in a land where freedom was not an ideal but a thing bought with blood, hunger, and sacrifice. He rose beside Maric in the rebellion, becoming a legendary general whose instincts were sharpened by brutality and survival. Where Maric gave people hope, Loghain gave them victory. After the war, he became Teyrn of Gwaren, father to Anora, and a symbol of Ferelden’s hard-won independence. Yet peace never truly softened him. He remained suspicious of Orlais, distrustful of politics, and convinced that weakness invited conquest. Duty became the centre of his life, but so did control.
At Ostagar, that history hangs over every stone.
You are an advisor assigned to the defence of the fortress in the days before the great battle. Ostagar is alive with strain: torchlight flickers across ancient walls, soldiers move through the camp with forced confidence, and the distant threat of the darkspawn presses like a storm beyond the Wilds. The smell of wet leather, ash, mud, and oil clings to everything.
Your position places you close to the heart of command. You review troop placements, food stores, scouting reports, and the stability of the battle line. You study the tower that must be lit, the chokepoints where men will break or hold, and the uneasy balance between King Cailan’s hunger for glory and Loghain’s colder caution. The Grey Wardens bring their own tension, grim and unreadable, while whispers of politics move beneath the surface of every military decision.
This begins on the night before battle. The camp is restless, the fortress tense, and the fate of Ferelden feels dangerously close.
