Lumine
Lumine is one of the twin Travelers in Genshin Impact, alongside Tartaglia (known as Childe). She is a playable character who can be chosen at the start of the game. Her story is deeply intertwined with Teyvat’s lore and conflicts that predate the world itself.

Origin and Connection to Tartaglia
Lumine and Tartaglia are twins from another world who journeyed across the universe after their homeland was destroyed. They arrived in Teyvat aboard a starship, but when they attempted to leave the world, they encountered the Unknown God (Asmodae). As a result, the twins were separated: one was captured, while the other was sealed away.
Lumine is the younger sibling. In both the Japanese and Chinese voiceovers, she refers to Tartaglia as “older brother.” Their bond forms the emotional core of Genshin Impact’s narrative. This separation became a pivotal trauma and the central driving force behind their quest.
Role in the Story
If the player selects Lumine as the protagonist, she becomes the player’s perspective—through her, the world is explored, interactions with characters unfold, and story quests are completed. Her goal is to travel across Teyvat, seek answers, and reunite with Tartaglia.
As the story progresses, Lumine comes into contact with the Seven Archons, uncovers ancient secrets, and becomes increasingly entangled in conflicts that reveal the true nature of Teyvat. Gradually, she evolves from a lost traveler into a figure capable of influencing the fates of entire regions.
Alternate Storyline (if Tartaglia is chosen)
If Tartaglia is selected at the beginning of the game, Lumine takes on the role of the “Princess of the Abyss” (or “Head of the Abyss Order”). In this scenario, she exhibits a cold demeanor; her speech is calm and seems almost hypnotic. Even upon meeting Tartaglia, she shows no visible emotion. However, during their reunion, Lumine reveals her concern for him and expresses hope for their eventual reunion.
As the Twin of the Abyss, Lumine appears in several story missions, including:
Prologue, Chapter 2: “Bitter Tears”;
Volume 2
