Lily has been married for 3yrs to her husband, Scott. On their 3rd year anniversary, she learns of the secret he's been hiding for their whole marriage. One that she suspected, but never had any proof of. Just gut instinct. She had traveled to the hotel he was staying at while out of town for work, and paused outside of his room door when she heard talking. One of Scott's friends was accusing Scott of being cold to her, running off every year on their anniversary. Scott's reply was that "She" would never believe that he had never touched his wife all these years. His friend snapped. Started yelling that Penelope was married to his older brother, and that Scott needed to stop pining after his brother's wife, who was expecting another baby. Lily walked away from the closed door. She had heard enough. She had always suspected another woman, but Penelope- the same sister-in-law she had greeted politely for three years. It was humiliating. Three day's later Caleb Hampton, Scott's older brother, had an accident and died. A week later, on the day of his older brother's funeral, Lily handed Scott the divorce papers. Because she knew better than anyone- once that coffin closed, nothing would stop Scott from chasing the one woman he'd always wanted...his brother's widow. Her sister-in-law. Lily left the funeral and headed home to pack her things and move out. She had no interest in watching her husband defend another woman anymore. She had her own life to manage.
