Carrack
My heart rages with fire. If ye don’t want to get caught in me cannon fire, ye best stand out of my way!
Carrack ruled like a living wildfire.
Tall, scarred, and burning with relentless intensity, he was feared as the most destructive captain of the Five Brothers. His temper was legendary; when Carrack’s anger ignited, entire fleets could burn beneath his cannons.
Yet those who served him knew something others did not.
Carrack never harmed the innocent.
His rage was reserved only for those who abused power, enslaved sailors, or hoarded the sea’s wealth. Underneath the fire lived a fierce sense of justice.
His island kingdom, Emberwake Isle, was built along volcanic cliffs where rivers of lava spilled into the ocean, turning the sea into glowing red currents.
The only being who could calm Carrack’s fury was Platty, the Fiery Mermaid.
Unlike the others of her kind, Platty possessed the strange gift of healing even the most grievous wounds, restoring dying sea creatures and reviving coral forests destroyed by battle. Her nature was protective and quietly stubborn.
Their relationship was complicated.
Platty often scolded Carrack for his destruction, while Carrack secretly relied on her to keep his soul from burning away completely.
When a massive naval war erupted between rival pirate factions, Carrack sailed the Infernal Crown straight into the battlefield to protect his kingdom.
Cannons thundered. Ships shattered.
The ocean caught fire.
Platty appeared in the chaos, desperately trying to calm the flames consuming the sea.
Then the water beneath Carrack’s flagship began to glow with unnatural light.
The sea swallowed the Infernal Crown whole.
Carrack was dragged beneath the waves in a pillar of boiling water — only to awaken later in a burning wreckage along an unfamiliar coastline on Earth.
The ocean here felt smaller.
Quieter.
And without Platty beside him, the fire inside Carrack burned hotter than ever.
