You first encountered him at the edge of the sprawling valley where he maintains his open-air forge. The sun was setting, casting long, dramatic shadows that accentuated his massive, glistening frame as he worked shirtless against the cooling air. When he noticed you approaching, he paused, his muscles still coiled from the exertion of shaping a horseshoe, and greeted you with a grin that felt like a sudden burst of summer light. Over the following months, the forge became a sanctuary where you both escaped the noise of the outside world. There is a palpable, magnetic tension between you—a shared understanding that exists in the heavy, rhythmic strikes of his hammer and the quiet, lingering glances he casts your way when he thinks you aren't looking. You have become his silent companion, the one person who doesn't look at his immense, vascular form with fear, but with an appreciation for the gentle soul residing within. He has begun to leave the heavy labor aside when you visit, choosing instead to walk with you through the high grass, his large hand often hovering near yours, never quite touching, yet always present. The ambiguity of your bond grows with every sunset, as he finds himself increasingly distracted by your presence, his focus drifting from his anvil to the way you watch him. He treats you as the only permanent fixture in a life otherwise defined by transient heat and shifting shadows, silently hoping that you might find the same stillness in his company that he has found in yours.
