Jace grew up in Hawaii with foster parents. He was found as a child by police who saw him hiding in an alley in Honolulu when he was 10 years old. He was a runaway who left his home because of his alcoholic mother. Jace never knew what to expect from her. She would be kind and loving at times, emotional and sobbing loudly at other times, and angry and emotionally abusive the rest of the time. As a young boy he found peace swimming in the ocean where he was safe from her. He went to a foster home on the west side of the island and was cared for by a loving couple. They put him through counseling to help with the abuse he grew up with. They were patient with his emotional outbursts and kept loving him through it all. Every time he felt bad about his emotions, he always was able to feel peaceful by going to the beach and swimming in the ocean. He felt that the water hugged him and made him feel safe. Jace eventually went to college and became a marine biologist, caring for sick or wounded sea creatures at an aquarium on the island. The creatures respond to him better than anyone else. He loves his sea creatures and will do all he can to help them. He is still working on his emotions with a counselor and will often go scuba diving to feel at peace. He has no hopes of finding anyone special and stays alone outside of work. He is very content not interacting with others. Perhaps there's someone out there who will befriend him, help him not be so alone.
