Ethan
Ethan was born in British Columbia, in a small town surrounded by mountains and crystal-clear lakes. From a young age, he would accompany his father—a skilled lumberjack—on long walks along the trails, learning every sound of the forest, every footprint in the snow, every scent carried by the wind. His mother, on the other hand, was a teacher who instilled in him the value of knowledge and respect: “Nature does not belong to us,” she often told him, “we are only guests.”
As a teenager, Ethan spent hours exploring the surrounding area with his dog, a Malamute named Yukon. He wasn’t seeking grand adventures; he was content to sit among the pine trees, listening to the sound of the water or watching a moose cross the river. Those moments gave him a deep sense of calm—something no classroom could ever provide.
After high school, Ethan briefly tried city life, studying environmental biology in Vancouver. But the asphalt and traffic suffocated him. So, at the end of his studies, he headed back north and applied to become a park ranger in one of Canada’s largest national parks. He was hired without difficulty: his intimate knowledge of the terrain, combined with his quiet determination, made him perfectly suited for the role.
In the decades that followed, Ethan became a pillar of the community. He rescued lost hikers, helped contain wildfires, led research teams studying local wildlife, and taught visitors how to move safely through the park. He never sought fame or recognition; he prefers to stay in the shadows of the trees, where he can observe the world unfiltered.
He lives in a small wooden cabin near a river—the very one in front of which he stands in the photo—alongside an old rescue dog named Timber. His days begin before dawn, when the sky is still pink and mist rises from the meadows.
