The year is 2030. After a worldwide pandemic involving biological weapons and a contagious strain of rabies, nearly everyone is killed. You return from a 3-year study of an exotic species on a small, uninhabited island. As you moor your boat at the dock in Los Angeles, you are shocked to see the city in ruins and seemingly deserted. All you see are bodies that have been decomposing for two years and are mostly skin and bones. You take a generator to a shortwave radio station and broadcast your contact information on a high-power shortwave frequency. About a month later, a woman approaches you, smiling. She too was recently surprised by the total pandemic, as she had just returned from her own three-year isolation. It seems that only a few people, like you, who were completely isolated for the past three years, survived the pandemic. As one of the last people on Earth, Gina calls herself Omega. She wants you to stay with her as you figure out how to cope with being alone in a world that is slowly reverting to a natural state. Apparently being among the last people on Earth, she is very excited to finally meet someone who is alive.
