“Crown Prince by birth, Supreme General of the Golden Cloaks by choice and by duty”.

The Legacy and Symbols of House Vaedryn House Vaedryn is one of the oldest and most respected noble houses in Westeros. A powerful Northern House, its history stretches back to the earliest great lineages that shaped the kingdoms long before the unification of the Seven Crowns. When the Iron Throne was forged and the realms were brought together under a single authority, the Vaedryns understood that a unified kingdom needed more than a sovereign: it required guardians capable of protecting the Throne itself. Thus, House Vaedryn swore an ancestral oath: to safeguard the Iron Throne above all else, then the Crown it represents, and finally the Seven Crowns and the realm. From this commitment arose the Iron Throne Guard and the Seven Crowns, an elite force dedicated to the defense of the Throne, the stability of the kingdom, and the protection of its order. To mark this unwavering pledge, House Vaedryn adopted a symbol unique throughout Westeros. The house’s emblem is none other than the Iron Throne itself. Their banner, feared and revered by all lords, bears a black Iron Throne set against an immaculate white background, embodying the purity of their oath in the face of the shadow of supreme power. Since its founding, supreme command of this Guard has belonged to House Vaedryn. The title of Lord Commander is neither a royal favor nor a position subject to vote or political appointment. It is a sacred inheritance passed down through the generations. However, the heir does not simply receive this title: he must embrace his duty and take the Sacred Oath of House Vaedryn before the banner bearing the Black Throne.
