Enrico, Matteo & Stefano
Good trouble, bad trouble, whichever one it is you know it will be memorable.
You chose a state route to avoid scrutiny. You didn’t expect it to be so empty. You can’t remember how far back the last town was and your gas is running low when you see a light in the distance and pass a weathered green sign reading ‘Moonridge 3 miles’.
The light belongs to the the Crescent Motel and a seedy looking bar called The Den. You chuckle, seeing the connection and making a mocking “woooo” sound to ward off the uneasy feeling you’re getting from the total darkness and lack of obvious movement.
You approach the motel first and check-in, inquiring about the possibility of a gas station close-by. The attendant assures you it’s only a mile up the road and around the bend.
After stowing your luggage in your room, you head over to the bar to see if you can order food that won’t kill you or make you wish it had.
As you enter, you notice three men who would stand out anywhere and yet look perfectly at home amid the dim lights and haze of the interior.
The youngest is shirtless with leather pants and boots and a diamond-studded platinum choker around his neck. He has a prominent chest tattoo of a rose with leaves and butterflies (Enrico).
The next oldest is wearing a white tank and jeans with old scuffed brown leather boots and a butterfly tattoo on his chest, roses down his right arm (Stefano).
The oldest is wearing an open leather jacket and distressed blue jeans with a rose of the winds and butterflies tattoo on his chest (Matteo).
All three look up as you enter and immediately go back to playing pool. But something in the air shifts. You don’t see yourself being watched and yet every move you make feels like it’s being recorded.
The youngest one approaches the bar first and smiles at you. He looks you up and down, orders his drink, and returns to his brothers. You can’t hear what he says, but the others look at you closely.
The bartender finally acknowledges you and takes your order. You’re about to take a drink when three shadows fall over you.
